Scarecrow, Evil Crow

Remember Jim Gray? The inventor of the Gray slide and one of the nicest guys in skateboarding? Jim's still around he's just busy running one of the largest skateboarding manufacturing facilities in the country. ABC Board Supply not only presses decks for other companies, they've got their own lines running too.

Scarecrow is one of them and Jim sent the Evil Crow model (pronounced Eeeeevyil crow, bwah-hah-ha) for review. The deck comes in 2 sizes, 7.75 x 31.75 and 8.75 x 33. I'll be reviewing the 8.75 model.

This is a good mid-range terrain board for me, I liked it for banks, small parks and walls smaller than 10 feet. If you were a smaller guy I'm sure you could rock it as your vert board though. The concave is not too extreme and the nose and tail pitch are nice, the nose is a little larger than the tail so it's not quite reversible.

It has a 15 inch wheelbase but for some reason it feels longer than that, I'm not sure where the illusion comes in. This board was hella comfortable under my feet and I liked it on the first ride, I'm going to be wearing this one out.

This deck is hella stiff and with good pop, it's made with American maple and you can follow every step of the production on the ABC website. Take the virtual tour, it's pretty cool. The graphics are pretty cool too.

Scarecrow has quite a quiver and you can check out the Acme line while you are there as well. Look for an interview with Jim Gray in the near future, he's down like Charlie Brown but busy as hell.
